Our theme for LLT’s 2022 Long Weekend of Learning;
“Is ‘upstream’ the missing link? Falls, frailty and how to best support older people living with long-term conditions”
This year our annual conference is once again replaced with a long weekend of learning with one fundamental aim: to support or equip exercise and physical activity teams and individuals working
Watch this short YouTube video to introduce our ‘upstream-downstream’ theme.
Our virtual #LLTLWL22 long weekend of learning will take place on the 25th 26th and 27th March with options for you to attend 1, 2 or all 3 days of learning to inspire and support your professional achievement of even better outcomes for the older people you work with.
The LLT team will be joined by guest speakers in presenting our long weekend of learning taking you on an ‘Upstream-Downstream Journey’ of conversations, presentations and practical sessions. Our virtual conference aims to support exercise and physical activity teams and individuals who are working; ‘upstream’ (healthy ageing – before decline) to support older people stay well, active and independent, and those working ‘downstream’ (where health or function has declined sufficiently to need medical/therapy intervention).
Not all older people are the same or at the same point in their physical activity journey. Therefore, individually tailored approaches in behaviour change, exercise prescription etc are needed, together with an understanding of the scope of practice and the significant differences between upstream versus downstream interventions. We hope to see you for either 1, 2 or all 3 days of learning to inspire and support achievement of even better outcomes for the older people you work with.
Session topics are designed for health and exercise professionals working with older people in the area of physical activity and exercise, i.e.;
We encourage learning for all and these sessions may serve as an introduction for those thinking about undertaking endorsed training/qualifications to enable work with older population groups and those living with long term conditions. However, the implementation of learning should take into account professional scope of practice.
We aim to record all sessions from the Long Weekend of Learning, to benefit anyone who missed out on any part of their day.
These recordings will be up for three months from the end of the Long Weekend of Learning.

If neither are available to you, Microsoft Edge (version Blink 79 onwards) is also compatible. Please test your browser compatibility prior to booking, via the Big Blue Button test link.
